Four months after halting operations of the Abuja-Kaduna railway, the Nigeria Railway Corporation and Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi announced resumption of its services with an increase in price.

According to the Minister of Transportation, the fares will be increased due to trains carrying few passengers. He also urges passengers to pay the price because "nothing is compared to the risk of paying ransom to kidnappers" on the Abuja-Kaduna road.

As services will resume on Wednesday with social distancing enforced, fares for the economy class will to rise N3000, N5000 for business class and N6000 for the VIP section.

Operations will also increase from eight to fourteen services daily.
