On This Day in 1943, hit film Stormy Weather premiered in the United States. Directed by Andrew L. Stone, it is one of the first Hollywood musicals to feature an African-American cast of talent which included Lena Horne, Katherine Dunham, Cab Calloway, Bill Robinson, Fats Waller, Ada Brown, Dizzy Gillespie and the Nicholas Brothers.

The film opened new doors for Black people in Hollywood.
