On This Day in 2007, the Boston Celtics acquired Kevin Garnett from the Minnesota Timberwolves in a Blockbuster Trade. This move would help establish the Celtics as a dominant NBA team and help them experience their 17th championship title.

The Boston Celtics finished the 2006-2007 NBA season with a dismal 24-58 record. Their star Paul Pierce was tired of the mediocrity and disaster season. His frustrations were voiced as he felt his time in Boston was up unless they could bring in championship level players. Celtics General Manager Danny Ainge had to act.

In the 2007 NBA Draft, Ainge began to embark on something special. He selected Jeff Green with the 5th pick and immediately moved him to the Seattle Supersonics with Delonte West, Wally Sczcerbiak and a 2008 pick for Glen Davis and lights out shooting guard Ray Allen.

Ray Allen at this time was in his prime as a dominant shooter who could move like the wind and strike from anywhere on the floor with his outstanding shooting touch.

Minnesota's then General Manager Kevin McHale (Retired Celtics player & Ainge's former teammate) agreed in Principle to trade Kevin Garnett to the Celtics for Al Jefferson, Gerald Green, Ryan Gomes, Sebastian Telfair, Theo Ratliff and two first round draft picks.

At that time, it was the biggest trade in NBA history and it certainly it pay off.

11 months, later the Celtics hoisted their 17th NBA Championship to end the 2007-2008 NBA season after knocking off the Los Angeles Lakers in six games. Garnett won Defensive Player of the Year and along with Pierce and Allen, led Boston to the biggest one-season turnaround in history.

And on that summer championship night in June 2008, Garnett also did this:
