On This Day in 1936, Track & Field Athlete Jesse Owens won his first Gold Medal of the Berlin Olympics in the 100 meter dash, tying then world record of 10.3 seconds.

In the coming days, Owens would also go on to win the 200m, 4x100m relay and the long jump capturing in total four Gold medals.

Owens's victories at the Berlin Olympics proved to be extremely significant as it shattered the ludicrous theories about different races in the heart of Nazi Germany.
