Vladimir Putin has approved the world's first coronavirus vaccine

As the number of coronavirus cases surpass 20 million worldwide, President Vladimir Putin has announced that a Russian health care regulator has become the first in the world to approve a vaccine for the virus.

In a cabinet meeting this morning Putin said, "It works effectively enough, forms a stable immunity and, I repeat, it has gone through all necessary test. He also said "this first, very important step for our country, and generally for the whole world."

Mr. Putin went on to say that one of his daughters had taken the vaccine and according to Russia's minister of health, Mikhail Murashko the country will begin a mass vaccination campaign that will start with teachers and medical workers this month.
