A mandatory 14-day quarantine has been imposed by the UK on all arrivals from France after 2,669 new coronavirus cases were reported by the French Ministry of Health.

"We've worked so hard in this country to get our level of infections down, the last thing we want do is to have people returning and bringing the infection with them. It's to protect everybody,", UK Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said on BBC Breakfast today.

He also said there are now 160,000 British citizens in France who will be affected by the move.
