On This Day In 2004, the 'Mydoom' computer virus was first seen in North America.At the time, it was the most destructive worm and caused approximately $38 billion in damages.
It affected Microsoft Windows through email spam. The message on the worm read "andy, I'm just doing my job, nothing personal, sorry,".
There was a $250,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the creator. It is still the fastest spreading email virus of all time.
