On This Day In 1948, The World Health Organization was founded in Geneva, Switzerland.
The organization and initiative was proposed by Szeming Sze who was a delegate from China. Secretary General of the United Nations Conference, Alger Hiss later advocated for the organization.
On July 22, 1946, the Constitution of the WHO was signed by 51 UN countries and 10 other countries.
