On This Day In 1879, the illustrious and historic entertainment venue named Madison Square Garden opened.
The Vanderbilt family reclaimed the land of the building from promoter, politician and founder of Barnum & Bailey Circus, P.T. Barnum. He was previously using the venue for his circuses and other numerous events.
