On This Day In 1991: Apple Releases Macintosh 7.0

 

Apple continued to improve their systems with the Mac OS 7.

On This Day In 1991, Apple released the Macintosh 7.0 also known as "System 7", "Mac OS 7" and the "Big Bang".

As the operating system for all Apple computers, System 7 included new features such as Quick Draw 3D, personal file sharing, QuickTime and virtual memory.

It was the premier operating system until the release of Mac OS 8 in 1997.
