On This Day In 1991, Apple released the Macintosh 7.0 also known as "System 7", "Mac OS 7" and the "Big Bang".
As the operating system for all Apple computers, System 7 included new features such as Quick Draw 3D, personal file sharing, QuickTime and virtual memory.
It was the premier operating system until the release of Mac OS 8 in 1997.
