On This Day In 2009, LeBron Raymone James Sr. was named winner of the Maurice Podoloff trophy as the 2008-2009 NBA Most Valuable Player.
He became the first member of the Cleveland Cavaliers to win the award after averaging 28.4 Points, 7.7 Rebounds, 7.2 Assists, 1.1 Blocks and 1.69 Steals per game while leading the Cavaliers to the best record in the league with 66 wins in 82 games.
James won also finish as the runner-up for Defensive Player of the Year behind the Orlando Magic's Dwight Howard.
