On This Day in 2001, 'A.I. Artificial Intelligence' was released in movie theaters. It was directed by Steven Spielberg and starred Haley Joel Osment, Jude Law, Jake Thomas and Frances O'Connor.
With a budget of $100 million, the hit movie brought in $236 million at the box office.
The movie was originally developed by Stanley Kubrick but was handed over to Spielberg in 1995. A.I was nominated for two Oscars, one for Best Original Score (John Williams) and Best Original Effects.
