Today marks the 51st anniversary Brazil's triumph over Italy at the 1970 World Cup. With the 4-1 victory in Mexico City, Mexico at Estadio Azteca, the Brazilians became the first country to hoist the World Cup trophy three times surpassing two-time winners Italy and Uruguay.

Head Coach Mario Zagallo made history as the first person to become World Cup champion as a player and coach.

As for Pele, after a rough outing at the 1966 competition and vowing to never play another World Cup again, he return with great persuasion in 1970. While he dipped in athletic ability, his sharpness in the mind, technique and awareness proved vital.

While the greats Jairzinho (Scored in every game), Tostao, Rivelino and Carlos Alberto shined bright, it was Pele who ultimately made the decisive difference with his leadership and excellence that even resulted in the culminating goal at the final which is arguably the best goal in tournament history.

He would become the first person to win the World Cup three times.
