On This Day In 1928: First Loaf of Sliced Bread Goes On Sale

On This Day In 1928, the first loaf of sliced bread went on sale in Chillcothe Baking Company, Missouri.

The bakery was owned Marion Frank Bench who was a friend of Otto Frederick Rohwedder.

Rohwedder designed and created the first bread slicing machine that also wrapped the first loaf of bread to go on sale.
Sliced bread would soon become available across the United States as other bakeries would buy the machine.
