On This Day In 1988, Florence Delorez Griffith Joyner became the fastest woman of all time.

At the 1988 U.S. Olympic Trials in Indianapolis, she blazed to a 10.49 time in the 100m. This world record as well as her 21.34 finish time in the 200m final at the 1988 Summer Olympics have not been broken since.
