Sports Throwback: Oscar Schmidt Scores 55 Points vs Spain At 1988 Olympics

Oscar Schmidt from Brazil is probably the greatest basketball player you have never heard of. 

He is the all time leading scorer in basketball history, one of FIBA's 50 greatest players, Naismith and FIBA Basketball Hall of Famer and the record holder for the longest professional career of 29 years.

During the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, Oscar truly activated another level of supreme basketball. In eight games he scored 338 points, averaging 42.3 points per game.

In the final game of group action, he poured in 55 points vs Spain setting a new Olympic record that is yet to be broken.

Oscar Schmidt finished his Olympic career as the all time leading scorer with 1,093 points.
