The Bowl Championship Series era of college football from 1998 to 2013 was an electric time. Computer selection and various polling systems were used to determine the best teams in the country.

At the end of the 2003 BCS bowl games, there was a bit of controversy as USC and LSU were announced as split champions. Three coaches from the Coaching Poll disregarded the BCS and voted USC as champions after they finished at number 3 in the BCS standings.

LSU finished number one in the BCS standings. USC finished number one in the Associated Press rankings and were awarded the AP National Championship.

The BCS made changes for the 2004-2005 season and ranked USC number one to start the season.

Oklahoma began the season with the number two spot after adding Freshman Running Back Adrian Peterson after their BCS title loss to LSU.

Both squads would run the table from start to finish dominating opponents with their own various styles.

2003 Heisman Winning QB Jason White would lead OU with 35 Touchdowns.

USC QB Matt Leinart would follow suit and win the award for the 2004 season.

Peterson would finished 2nd in voting after being short on 2000 yards rushing in his extraordinary Freshman year.

USC RB Reggie Bush would finish 5th. It would be a sign of things to come for him and his backfield teammate LenDale White.

Outside of this, both teams boasted top notch NFL talent on both sides of the ball. The match-up was inevitable and the stage was set.

However after going up 7-0, things immediately went left for Oklahoma.

Really, really, really LEFT.

Leinart's left arm combined with outstanding execution from his teammates resulted in this.
