Entertainment Throwback: Today In 1902: First Sci-Fi Film "A Trip To The Moon" Released

 

The movie costed 10,000 Francs to make which is equivalent to 1,806.571 US Dollars.

The world's first science fiction film is a French production titled "Le Voyage dans la Lune". It was released on September 2nd, 1902 and its English translation means "A Trip To The Moon".

Film was written and directed by George Melies. Upon its creation the cast was anonymous. At the time movies did not display opening or closing credits but in the later years more was revealed about the casting crew.

The movie starred George Melies, Bleuette Bernon, Henri Delannoy, Francois Lallement, Jehanne D'Alcy and Jules-Eugene Legris.

This movie about a day in the lives of car washers was a big hit.

1976 film 'Car Wash' was star-studded and essential. The comedy takes a look at lives of employees at a car wash in Los Angeles which starred Franklyn Ajaye, Bill Duke, Irwin Corey, Lorraine Gary, Richard Pryor, Garrett Morris, Antonio Fargas, The Pointer Sisters, George Carlin and many more familiar faces.

In this scene Ajaye's character ,"TC" lets his girlfriend, Mona (played by Tracy Reed) know what the deal is after he wins tickets to a concert.

He kept it real and got the outcome he desired.
