IBM System 23/Datamaster
(c) Wikipedia
On This Day in 1981, IBM released the System 23/Datamaster, their very first desktop computer. The memory on the Datamaster was 256 kB RAM with 112 kb ROM and weighed close to 100 pounds while using up to two floppy disks. It was discontinued in 1985.
This computer was the precursor to IBM's "Personal Computer" which was released in August 1981.
If sold today, the System23/Datamaster would cost $26,000.
Here is the classic IBM TV commercial for the PC.
