On Sunday, the Miami Marlins baseball organization got word that their starting pitcher, Jose Urena would not be able to play after testing positive for the coronavirus. The players then exchanged group chat messages and decided to play believing they were not at risk. They won 11-6.

On Monday, two coaches and eleven players tested positive for COVID-19. Marlins Owner Derek Jeter said the results came in Monday after an away game against the Philadelphia Phillies. The team also wanted to remain in the city for a second round of results.

Two separate games were postponed after the Marlins outbreak. Washington Nationals Manager Dave Martinez said "I'm going to be honest with you. I'm scared...My level of concern went from about an eight to a 12. I mean this thing really hits home now."

Dr. Andrew Morris, who is a professor of infectious diseases at the University of Toronto said "Baseball is in huge trouble....It makes me wonder if they are listening to the advice of experts or whether their experts are giving them good advice."
