NBA-bound Kobe Bryant knew Brandy was the Prom Date for him after meeting her at the 1999 Essence Awards. After he got her Mother's approval, it was game on. This would also lead to a friendship between the two that helped Bryant get some television time on 90's sit-com 'Moesha'.
