Sports Throwback: Larry Bird's Left Handed Game - 47 Points vs Portland Trailblazers

#33 for the Boston Celtics did what needed to be done for success in 1986.

Larry Bird is no stranger to the art of humiliation. Whatever he could do establish his presence on the court mentally, he would do.

On February 21st 1986, the Boston Celtics were in the midst of winning 14 out of 15 games with All-Star Forward Kevin McHale being injured. That is more than enough to recognize the talent and camaraderie this team shared.

The Celtics faced the Portland Trailblazers and Bird faced himself with his left hand.

If it was not a jump-shot, he would decide to attempt every layup or floater with his left hand.

He would end up scoring 20 points.....with only his left hand.

For the entire game, his numbers were 47 points, 14 rebounds, 11 assists on 21 for 36 from the field. Also, in vintage Bird fashion, he sent the game to over with a tying jumper and made the game winner shot.

Larry Joe Bird would win his third NBA MVP award in a row en route to leading the Celtics to their 16th NBA Championship.
