China Orders U.S Consulate Closure In Chengdu

In a retaliation move over the U.S closing the Chinese Consulate in Houston, Texas, China has now ordered the closure of the American embassy in the city of Chengdu.

China's foreign ministry said the move was a "legitimate and necessary response to the unreasonable actions taken by the United States". China has given the United States until Monday to close the consulate.

The move came hours after Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said "Today, China is increasingly authoritarian at home, and more aggressive in its hostility to freedom everywhere else,"

Tensions have risen between the two countries as U.S. President Donald Trump has lamented China's response to the Coronavirus pandemic, trade and their involvement with Hong Kong.

The U.S recently charged four Chinese Nationals with visa fraud for lying about their membership with China's armed forces. One of the nationals is currently hiding out in the San Francisco Consulate with the other three are under arrest.

Chicago Mayor Removes Christopher Columbus Statue Early Friday Morning

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot ordered the removal of the Christopher Columbus statue from Chicago's Grant Park in the early hours of Friday morning. 

Some Italian-Americans leaders lamented the decision but according to sources, some groups had no issue with it. The statue was quickly removed to avoid another confrontation between protesters and the city's law enforcement. 

At around 1:00 am, crews began to bring down the monument as on-lookers cheered. The controversial statue fully came down at 3:00 am.

Columbus has been condemned by activists across America who have issue with the Italian explorer’s 1492 arrival in the Americas as he led the mistreatment of Indigenous people.

NBA Scrimmage: Mavericks Beat Lakers In Star-Laden Matchup

The Dallas Mavericks took down the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday, 108-104 in an NBA Restart Scrimmage in Orlando.

With both teams, continuing to exchange baskets early the game got off to a intense and competitive start but the Lakers established a 7 point lead through the second quarter and had a 55-44 advantage heading into halftime.

In the third quarter, Dallas came out blazing going on a 33-19 run and also gained a 12-point lead with three minutes left to go in the forth. The Lakers would finish the game on a 15-7 run but that proved to be too late.

Mavs Guard Seth Curry finished the game with 23 points in 16 minutes while shooting 100 percent from the field on eight shots. Luka Doncic talled 14 points and 6 assists while Center Boban Marjanovic stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, 13 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 blocks and 1 steals.

As Lakers Forward LeBron James did not play the second half, he finished with 12 points and 5 assists. Lakers Big Man Anthony Davis scored 12 points on 5-7 shooting.

Court Records In Ghislaine Maxwell Case To Be Made Public; Judge Rules

U.S. District Court Judge Loretta Preska has ruled to unseal a large number of documents in the Ghislaine Maxwell defamation case.

Maxwell’s lawyers objected, saying they have “grave concerns about our client's ability to seek and receive an impartial and fair trial and jury due to the intense media scrutiny around anything that is unsealed.”

Among the 416 pages of documents include a deposition from Maxwell containing details about her sex life, police reports, flight information from former associate Jeffrey Epstein and allegations of abuse from Virginia Giuffre. 

Judge Preska has given Maxwell's lawyers one week to appeal the decision and also ordered for the files to be ready for release.

Maxwell is currently being held without bail in a Brooklyn Federal Prison facing charges of transporting minors in Epstein's alleged sex ring and committing perjury. 

Her trial is in July 2021.

IRON MIKE IS COMING BACK; Mike Tyson To Fight Roy Jones Jr. In 8-Round Exhibition Match

Mike Tyson has booked his first comeback fight against Roy Jones Jr. in an 8-Round exhibition match.

According to TMZ, the fight will take place in California on September 12th and will be available on Pay-Per-View as well as the social media platform called Triller.

Tyson's last fight was in 2005 but the now 54-year-old has been making waves on social media showing off his training sessions. Jones Jr. last fought two years ago but according to reports has been training consistently. 

Both men in their heyday took down some of the most prolific boxers in the world such as Bernard Hopkins, Evander Hoyfield, Larry Holmes and Michael Spinks.

Roy had a record of 66-9 while Tyson won 50 times and lost 6.

'El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie' & 'American Crime' Actor Johnny Ortiz Faces Life In Prison

Johnny Ortiz along with Armando Miguel Navarro, have been accused of trying to kill a man named Brian Duke.

On the “attempted willful, deliberate, and premeditated attempted murder” charges, the actor is pleading not guilty. 

His family has set up a GoFundMe page to assist in raising money for his bond. They firmly believe he is "fighting for his case that he is innocent on". 

Johnny Ortiz played Tony Gutierrez in American Crime, Busboy in El Camino opposite Aaron Paul as Jessie Pinkman, and also starred in the 2015 Disney film McFarland USA with Kevin Costner.

The preliminary hearing for his case is set for September 22nd. He is facing 25 years to the possibility of life in prison.

Former UCONN Basketball Star Stanley Robinson Dies At 32

Stanley Robinson was an integral part of UCONN'S 2009 Final Four Run.

Stanley Robinson, former UCONN star passed away suddenly in his Birmingham, Alabama home at the age of 32.

"Sticks" was his nickname. He scored 1,231 points, grabbed 776 rebounds in his four-year career at the University of Connecticut and helped his team win 90 games including a 2008-2009 record of 31-5.

In a statement, Robinson's coach at UConn, Jim Calhoun said "I am truly heartbroken...Stanley was such a beautiful person, caring and giving. He was a gentle soul, too gentle for this world."

Coach Jim Calhoun suspended Robinson during the first semester of his junior season but "Sticks" fought and earned his way back on the team by working in a scrapyard.

"Most kids would have said, 'Screw you,'...Stanley could have left in a heartbeat, but he's unique.", Calhoun told ESPN in 2008.

According to UCONN, until injuries derailed his professional career, Robinson was playing in a host of countries including Canada. He also played in the NBA Developmental League with the Iowa Energy.

"He was not only loved by his teammates, but everybody who met Sticks liked him. He will always be a Husky," Calhoun added.

Stanley "Sticks" Robinson is survived by three daughters.

Taylor Swift Announces Surprise Album To Be Released Tonight

Taylor Swift has announced the surprise release of her album Folklore. As it will be her 8th album, the Grammy-award winning artist produced and co-wrote the project along with National's Aaron Dessner.

Swift wrote on her Twitter, "Before this year I probably would've thought when to release this music at the 'perfect time' but the times we're living in remind me that nothing is guaranteed."

Bon Iver's Justin Vernon will also appear on the album that will drop tonight at Midnight EST.

Swift was expected to headline Glastonbury 2020 but it was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The album will have 16 tracks plus a bonus track.

Fake COVID Testing Kits Seized By Police In International Trafficking Crackdown

According to Interpol, 17,000 fake COVID-19 testing kits were seized in a raid against illicit drink and food products across dozens of countries.

The officials seized $40 Million worth of substandard products in 77 countries and arrested 409 people.

"As countries around the world continue their efforts to contain COVID-19, the criminal networks distributing these potentially dangerous products show only their determination to make a profit,” the Interpol's secretary general Jurgen Stock said in a statement.

Besides the fake COVID kits, the other products seized included bad dairy products, meat from illegally slaughtered animals, car parts, cosmetics, shoes, clothing, electronics, tobacco and medicine.
