Jordan Henderson has officially been crowned the Football Writer's Association (FWA) 2019-2020 Player of the Year after beating out the likes of Manchester City's Kevin DeBruyne and Manchester United's Marcus Rashford.

"I'd like to say how appreciative I am of the support of those who voted for me and the Football Writers' Association in general.", Henderson said.

He also added, "I owe a lot to so many different people but none more so than my current teammates who have just been incredible and deserve this every bit as much as I do."

Henderson became the first Liverpool captain to lift the Premier League trophy in 30 years. It has also been a top notch year for the club as they won the recent Champions League Final as well as the Club World Cup in December.

Two other Liverpool players, Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk rounded out the top 5 in the FWA voting.
