Nathaniel Dwayne Hale, known as, Nate Dogg was born on this day in 1969 to Daniel Lee Hale and Ruth Holmes in Clarksdale, Mississippi.
Nate started singing during his childhood years as his Mother was a leader in the choir and his Father was a Pastor.
He left high school at 17 to join the Marines, where he would be stationed for 3 years in Japan until he was discharged. Shortly afterwards, Nate along with Warren G and Snoop Dogg formed a Rap trio named "213".
In 1992, Nate debuted as a solo artist on Dr. Dre's first solo project The Chronic. Fans were highly impressed with his distinctive sound that proved to be very complementary to the 90's G-Funk period.
His biggest single "Regulate" which he performed with Warren G zoomed all the way to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. He also released three solo albums and was nominated four times at the Grammy Awards.
Nate Dogg passed away on March 15, 2011 from heart failure.
