On This Day In 2016, Barack Obama Became the first United States President to visit Cuba in 88 years.
This trip was apart of the "Cuban Thaw" between both countries from 2015-2017 in effort to restore diplomatic, trade and travel relations. The Americans and Cubans had an extremely hostile relationship since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis which almost caused a nuclear war.
