Today in 1994, Wayne Gretzky on the Los Angeles Kings scored his 802nd goal breaking the record of his favorite player Gordie Howe.
This happened before a sellout crowd of 16,005 people at the Great Western Forum.
At the time of his retirement in 1999, Gretzky would own 61 NHL records. He is widely regarded as the sport's all time greatest player.
