A gem.

Craig Biggio and Jeff Bagwell were the foundation for the 2005 Astros WS appearance.
(c) Houston Chronicle

The 2004 MLB Postseason featured the rise of the Houston Astros as they put the world on notice after establishing a 3 games to 2 series lead against the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Championship Series.
Then Jim Edmonds happened....

Twice.

An incoming test of perseverance would occur after the Astros started the 2005 season with a 15-30 record finding themselves 14 games behind the Cardinals in the NL Central Division but on May 25th, a spark took place causing Houston to ride into July with a 44-43 record.

They finished 33-26 the rest of the way to finish with a 89-73 record which was good enough for a wildcard spot.

With the usual postseason theatrics and a never say quit mentality, the city of Houston watched their baseball team breakthrough.
