On This Day In 1959: Miles Davis Released 'Kind of Blue

 

Music critics regard 'Kind of Blue' as arguably the greatest Jazz album ever.

On this day in 1959, Miles Davis released 'Kind of Blue' after recording it at Columbia's 30th Street Studio (Also known as CBS 30th Street Studio) in New York City.

Miles Davis played the trumpet. John Coltrane and Julian Adderley played the saxophone. Paul Chambers and Jimmy Comb got busy on the bass and drums while both Bill Evans and Wynton Kelly were on the piano.

On This Day In 1989: Sega Genesis Was Released

The nostalgia of the 1990's involves this classic console.

On This Day In 1989, the Sega Genesis was released in the United States.

In Europe, it was known as the 'Mega Drive'. 

As this gaming console packed 16-bit, the company saw good success but felt they were missing one ingredient.

In the attempt to overcome Nintendo's Mario, Sega created Sonic The Hedgehog in 1991 and went to another level of acclaim.

They would also become the go-to console for sports games as Electronic Arts was enjoying a great partnership with Sega with games such as Madden, FIFA and NHL.

The console was so good and loved that it lasted for 8 years until it was discontinued in 1997.

Blige's version peaked at number 28 on the Billboard 100 in 1992 from her debut album 'What's The 411?'

Her debut album was immediately catapult Blige to the top of the charts and be regarded as one of the best albums of all time.
