On This Day In 1879, the illustrious and historic entertainment venue named Madison Square Garden opened.
The Vanderbilt family reclaimed the land of the building from promoter, politician and founder of Barnum & Bailey Circus, P.T. Barnum. He was previously using the venue for his circuses and other numerous events.
On This Day In 1987, 18 year-old West German civilian pilot named Mathias Rust landed his Cessna in Moscow's Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge after taking off from Finland.
Luckily, the Soviets did not receive the word to shoot his aircraft down after he was mistakenly regarded as a friendly plane. Finnish air traffic controllers did their due diligence in contacting him but Rust turned off all communications.
When he was located in Moscow, he avoided landing inside the Kremlin for sensible reasons therefore changing his ending to the Red Square. With traffic at its peak, the Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge was the only available place. He was arrested shortly after.
Rust said the intentions of this air-flight was to ease tensions and bring peace during the Cold War.
After gaining international fame, he was sentenced to 14 years in prison but later released after 14 months.

Colbie Caillat released her debut albumCocoin 2007 which experienced great success by reaching #5 on the Billboard 200 and selling over 51,000 copies in the first week. The album's final single "Somethin' Special" was used as a song in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Today's Music Throwback features the album's 4th track, "Bubbly". It was the project's main single and is still Caillat's biggest song till this day. Jason Reeves and Caillat wrote the song as Mikal Blue was the producer.

Vince McMahon's victory left him with a lot of story lines to create and talent to utilize his vision.
This would leave McMahon and his team with the task of injecting NWO into the company's limelight at the appropriate time. After the "Invasion" period that saw the WWE overpower WCW/ECW, McMahon felt that new "co-owner" Ric Flair was hurting the company leaving Vince with no choice but to "destroy his own creation".
In 1965, The Ramsey Lewis Trio released their instrumental rendition of hit song "The 'In' Crowd".
The recording took place at the Bohemian Caverns in Washington D.C and reached the top 5 on the Hot 100.
The original version of the song was written by Billy Page, arranged by his brother Eugene Page and performed by Dobie Gray. It peaked at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100.

It began with an index of twelve smokestack companies that closed at 40.94. Some of the companies were General Electric Co, Domino Foods Inc, American Tobacco Company and Chicago Gas Company.
